The West Indies Sugar Company was founded in Jamaica in 1937, and in its second year of operation it would be expanded to include the Monymusk Estate.
As a sister company to Caroni Limited, it would be used by the parent company to give Caroni a controlling interest in the Sainte Madeleine Sugar Company.
Caroni would only fully own the Sainte Madeleine factory and associated assets in 1962 when it buys out the WISCO holdings.
