One year after buying the stock of rum from the burnt treasury building in Port of Spain, JB Fernandes would acquire the Forres Park estate in south Trinidad.
The primary motive for this purchase was to acquire the derelict wooden pot still on the estate so that he could begin production of his own rum. In restoring the estate, he managed to make it the second most efficient sugar refinery on the island for a short time.
On this estate, he would develop his famous Forres Park Puncheon Rum as well as other products bearing the Forres Park name.
