Manoel Fernandes who arrived in Trinidad from Madeira ten years earlier would establish his blending house on Henry Street, Port of Spain. Here he would create Fernandes Black Label Rum, one of the longest continuously produced brands of Caribbean Rums. The company would continue under both his son and grandson and who would establish other popular rums under the Fernandes name.

Other Portuguese owned rum blending operations on Henry Street included Silva’s Black Cat Bar, and  Serrão’s Peep of Day.
