The House of Angostura is adding a brand new type of bitters to their portfolio. Angostura Cocoa Bitters is the third and newest type of cocktail bitters from the company with the leading Bitters brand!

Angostura Aromatic Bitters was introduced in 1824. It remains the company’s most popular product, and is a staple at bars and cocktail lounges across the globe.

Angostura Orange Bitters was more recently released in 2007 and along with Amaro di Angostura has become a key ingredient in the Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge.

Chocolate Bitters is already fairly popular in the craft cocktail community, and artisanal bitters producers already have several varieties on the market.

Bitter Truth Chocolate Bitters is described as having notes of bitter chocolate balanced with cocoa butter and supported by a blend of European bitter herbs.

Both Fee Brother’s Aztec Chocolate Bitters, and Bittermens  Xocolatl Bitters take inspiration from the Meso American traditions of combining cacao beans with peppers in a variety of sauces and beverages.

Angostura Cocoa Bitters is described as “a distinctive expression expertly crafted with fine Trinitario Cocoa Nibs.”

The Trinitario variety of cocoa is a natural hybridization between Criollo and Forastero that offers the flavor of the former and the strength of the latter.

This variety of promoted by the University of the West Indies Cocoa Research Institute for a fine and fruity flavor and its importance in the growing agricultural sector.

Angostura Cocoa Bitters brings together two iconic and important culinary contributions to the world of cuisine with strong associations to Trinidad and Tobago.
